CPF Nova Scotia hosted an amazing Bilingual Career Exploration Day at Acadia University on February 23. Over 140 high school students from five schools in the AVRCE and CSAP. Students were welcomed to Acadia University by Scott Duguay, Vice-Provost Students, Recruitment and Enrolment Management. To start the day, there was an icebreaker and keynote from Hughie Batherson, Humoriste and Motivational Speaker.
Students had the opportunity to meet with organizations such as the Canadian Coast Guard College, Commission de la fonction publique du Canada, Centre for Geographic Sciences (COGS NSCC), Explore/Odyssey program, YMCA Emplois d’été Échanges Étudiants, Saint Mary’s University and more. They also participated in workshops with Alliance Française Halifax, Agriculture en classe, Université Ste-Anne and Mount Saint Vincent University.
After lunch, the day ended with a panel presentation, « Témoignages: expériences directes du travail » facilitated by Dr. Kate Ashley Assistant Dean of Arts, Acadia University. Guest speakers were Corinne Haigh, Dean of Faculty of Professional Studies, Acadia University; Nancy Beliveau, retired AVRCE FSL consultant; Salma Kattab, Dalhousie University student; and Ryan Francis, Volunteer Sport Chair of the 2023 North American Indigenous Games.
